Christmas decoration at the local resident home for old people "Veneta Boteva"

After the exhausting Charity bazaar at school, which as I already mentioned went great, we decided to take a break. Or something like that. Our friends from the local resident home for old people are about to have an awesome Christmas celebration on the 19th of December, so the IB class gave them a pre-Christmas present!

Their event center and the corridor, leading to it, now shine bright with their festive decoration. Kids are not the only one that need Christmas spirit! I`d love to see the inhabitants` faces when they walk in the next day. We freshened the room with a wonderful set of light curtains and some more Christmas stuff.

The corridor we decorated with some of the stiropor stars that students made and were not included in the school decoration. Everything looks much better now! Christmas is comiiiing!!!

Christmas charity bazaar at school - Christmas pegs and "The Best Chefs of American college "Arcus" charity competition

It was high time we do something like that in school! The cooking competition is one of the best things students have even done for charity. Since we`re still running the campaign for the homeless people, we are now raising money to buy everyone some food for Christmas. Not only did we sell all the pegs that had been made in the Christmas workshop "A pinch of Christmas spirit", but we ate ourselves to death! Each class was supposed to cook something and then sell it. Well..there was TOO MUCH food! :D I hadn`t seen so much sweets at one place for long. There was even a class that made 4 or 5 types of cupcakes, biscuits, cookies and what not. They proudly and deservedly took the first place in the competition with the sum of 80 BGN. And then came the IB with the sum ot 55 BGN!! We are definitely satisfied with the results, considering that we had prepared two things only - biscuit balls and eclairs. We worked hard to make them and sell them! The cooks received a great deal of compliments, so there`s certainly gonna be more eating in the future. :3

Christmas charity bazaar of Veliko Tarnovo

The municipality of Veliko Tarnovo is hosting a Christmas bazaar for the first time this year. Small wooden houses, covered in decoration, bring joy and Christmas spirit to the citizens. People can buy everything from socks and hats, and scarves to meat, wine and sweets. But the most impressive things are sold at the Charity sales` house. Social institutions are invited to take part in this Christmas Charity bazaar. Our college is participating on 11, 12.12 together with the local resident home for old people. And what do we sell? Our handmade pegs, of course! Student volunteers were divided into groups of two and distributed into shifts.
Me and my sister got into the role of sellers on the first day. We definitely had fun. Although people were just passing by most of the times, we succeeded to sell 9 pegs of a total of 30, so we completed our mission. You may now have a look at the wonderful wooden house and my "collegues" from the resident home for old people, selling their amazing works of art!

Organizing a concert and celebrating the International day of persons with disabilities - 3.12

Exciting, touching, splendid! We, the 47 volunteers, wrote our own fairytale together with some of the brightest talents amongst the people with disabilities in Bulgaria - Kris Grigorov, Ilona Kalcheva, Robert Abrashev, Petya, Hristina. No, they are not that different. They are irreplaceable. People with huge talents, so openminded, so friendly, so wise. I must admit we were kind of scared before we met those youngsters - it`s just that society pushes them away from us, so we didn`t have the slightest idea what to expect. We were afraid of what we might see, but after all we learned an important lesson. No matter what we are, or what kind of dissability we have, we are wonderful! We are priceless and unique and deep down we treasure up indestructible spirits. Those men and women were full of life, energy and desire to help others. The aim of the concert we put together was to encourage people with disabilities to show up, to stand out in the crowd, because they are not a minority. They are everywhere around us and they need to be accepted. And the new generations are the ones to help them - we are more creative and more opened to changes than our ancestors were.
I had a great time with everybody who decided to take part in this celebration of the power for life. That`s exactly the name of the foundation that realized this event - "Power for life". All the volunteers are planning to keep in touch with the members of the foundation and we even have a new aim:
To never stop searching for people with great talents, wheather they have disabilities, or not, and encourage them to live eagerly and passionately!
