Student President Platform
It`s my birthday today, so I couldn`t go without a gift from me to me! :D Together with one of my classmates, Memo, I decided to run for Student President and he for Vice President of the school. We had to create a platform and then present it on a special meeting with the other students and teachers. Our platform included some exclusive proposals like a Shooting Club; Volleyball tournaments not only for boys, but for girls and also girls+boys; longer lunch break, wider variety of food at school in the mornings; school cinema and others. I hope that students like our ideas and that they will vote for us next week at the elections!

Second meeting of club "Applied Arts"
We already started our work with the decoupage technique. Today everyone made his own object. It was really nice. Nobody liked their stuff at first, but when they were finally proccessed in detail - well, the results were more than satisfying! I chose to decorate a simple wooden jewellery box and i found it a bit harder to reach every single edge and corner. I first chose the napkin I was going to use, then I agglutinated it with C 200. Waiting for the object to dry is the only boring part of the whole process. So when it was finally ready, I was running out of patience, but I really wanted to finish the box. I put on an even layer of lacquer so it would get a well-rounded look. Here`s my little precious box:
Collecting and donating clothes for "Palovi" family
We started out with a cause - collecting and donating clothes for a family with 13 children from a Bulgarian town Gurkovo. We had a week time to prompt the students in school to donate clothes and stuff, to open their hearts and be compassionate. "Palovi" family composes of mother Tsanka and father Ivan, seven boys and 6 girls. Ivan and Tsanka are firm that they do not regret any of their children`s appearance. The family`s month income is around 150 euro, so they definitely need our help!

Halloween party organization and last preparations (writing a script, making diplomas and playlists, preparing gifts)
We finally managed to prepare everything for the Halloween party in Romania. We wrote an amazing script with lots of entertaining games, performances and chances to win a prize. One of the best parts of the night will be the qualifications for Miss and Mister Halloween, Sexiest Male/Female Halloweener, Scariest Male/Female Halloweener, Miss and Mister Party Animal, Miss and Mister Vampire, and Super Halloween Teacher. My collegues and I made some diplomas to justify the winners.
There`s also gonna be a raffle with amazing gifts and the biggest prize is Mini Pumpkin Lamp with changing colours. We prepared gifts for every game and performance, so even the losers will be satisfied! Playlists were also made, because we are in charge of the music. I think we all did a great job and prepared everything that is needed!

First meeting of charity club "Hope & Love"
Charity club "Hope & Love" opened its school year with a mission. Those who wanted to join the club were assigned to write an essay on a specific topic, connected with charity.

First meeting of club "Applied Arts"
The members were looking forward to attending the first meeting. Unlike any others, this one included more action and less talking. Just what the students need after an exhausting day at school. The first thing we`re going to deal with is the french technique "Decoupage".
Decoupage (or découpage) is the art of decorating an object by gluing colored paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and so on. Commonly an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers. Each layer is sealed with varnishes (often multiple coats) until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work. The traditional technique used 30–40 layers of varnish which were then sanded to a polished finish. This was known in 18th century England as the art of Japanning after its presumed origins.
I was very delighted with my work. A little wooden box was decoupaged and turned into a treasure. Because this is art - turning ordinary things into unique!
Local project: First meeting of club "Young Journalist"
Today "American college "Arcus" Digest " had its first staff meeting. It really does feel as we are journalists. We had a look at the format of the paper and a basic introduction in this kind of media. Since this is our local project, we are strongly motivated and determined to impress our readers and contribute to the school`s reputation. Mrs. Petarcheva, our leader, gave us details about what we should seek for and what materials should be put in the paper. Our first topic is "Halloween". We`re looking for paintings, literacy and everything that might grasp attention. And the team is extremely rigorous!

Celebrating the International Teachers` Day – 5.10.2012
We started the week at the local residential home
for old people and finished it at school, celebrating our teachers` day. My
classmates had prepared a very creative board with a wise saying for every
teacher. We surprised them with lots of flowers and balloons. That`s the
spirit!
They were impressed and rewarded us with a bunch of smiles and warm feelings.
Being a teacher takes a lot of effort, strong motivation and iron nerves, so we must be grateful to them and respect them not only on this date, but every day. They have always been, are and will always be the enlighteners of the world. They link the new generations to the old culture and traditions.

So thank you, teachers, that you never give up
on trying to get the best out of us!

Celebrating the International Old People`s Day - 1.10.2012, and a charity dance performance at the local Residential home for old people “Veneta Boteva”

What I gave those people for their celebration was a charity dance performance of tango with an old man, called Peter. It was unusual and challenging, since I have never danced a “freestyle” tango. But it was so touching. I could see the joy in Old Peter`s eyes, while we were dancing. We were both nervous, but everything went great! It was definitely fun and the audience loved us!
Apart from the “Express tango”, the old men and women had prepared lovely songs and dances and they once more proved that no matter how old you are, you can always have fun and do what makes you happy.
The event was also attended by the mayor of Veliko Tarnovo - Daniel Panov, and reflected in the media.

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to spend
that day with the old people from the residential home – the kindest people you
will ever see! And I am definitely going back there some day!
