Celebrating the Independence Day of Bulgaria – 22.09 – The Big Horo

I just came back from being part of the biggest horo ever done in Veliko Tarnovo. It was part of the celebration of the Independence day of Bulgaria this year. The feeling is great – so many people united in the name of a cause. We danced the whole way to Tsarevets, which is about two kilometers away from the center of the town, where the horo started. The leaders were professional folklore dancers, so they switched from one type of horo to another and it was quite hard for us followers to keep up with the pace. There were spectators as well who did not wish to take part in the horo, but they also enjoyed the event. J
