Giving speech on the First day of school

This First day of school felt a bit different from the previous ones. Maybe because it`s my last. And when I saw the eight graders with their cute frightened face expressions – oh, nostalgy. We looked exactly the same way when we stood on their place, right in front of the entrance of the building. I hoped my speech would make them feel better and a bit more safe. This is a school after all, not a jail.  So I told them:

If you look at the other side of the school - the more pleasant one, you will in no way regret being part of this community. A variety of extracurricular activities await for you - from charity initiatives to sport and art activities for self-expression to trips around Bulgaria or abroad… Have you ever heard of another school with 15 club forms and a Christmas charity ball, and what not?
I was a bit nervous at first, but then I thought: If I am nervous myself, how am I going to make them calm down? And I did it, I made them feel more comfortable … and smiley!  J
